How many animals are in Planet Zoo 2? 136

The launch roster is 136 species: 130 in the base game and 6 Deluxe-exclusive. This is the number in Frontier's own Zoopedia data as of 20 October 2026. Lists that say 130 were compiled before the final six species were published on launch day.

Where the number comes from

Planet Zoo 2's Zoopedia is a web app: each species has its own page, and each page embeds a structured record with the species' biome, enclosure type, barrier grade, size, weight, conservation status and reveal date. We pull those records directly rather than retyping a wiki table. On 20 October 2026 that export contained 136 species — and 23 distinct reveal dates, the last of which is launch day.

The six that make 130 into 136

These are the species whose Zoopedia pages appeared on 13 October 2026. They are the entire gap between the widely-copied 130 and the real launch roster:

Questions

How many animals are in Planet Zoo 2?
136 at launch: 130 in the base game plus 6 Deluxe-exclusive species. That is the count in Frontier's own Zoopedia payload, not a community estimate. The species database lists every one of them.
Why do other sites say 130?
Because their lists were built from the announcement run-up. Frontier published the last six Zoopedia entries on launch day, 13 October 2026: Asian Small-Clawed Otter, Binturong, Black Rhinoceros, Javanese Cownose Ray, Koi, Sand Tiger Shark. Any list assembled before that date is short by six. We re-pulled all 136 species pages on 20 October 2026 and the count is now 136.
Does the 136 include Deluxe animals?
Yes. 130 base-game species plus 6 Deluxe-exclusive ones. If you only buy the standard edition you can still keep 130 species; the Deluxe six are Axolotl, Blue and Gold Fusilier, Golden Eagle, Golden Lion Tamarin, Great Hammerhead, Longfin Batfish.
Will the number change after launch?
Frontier has said Planet Zoo 2 will receive post-launch DLC, so the roster will grow. The 136 figure is the launch roster — we date every data refresh on the changelog so you can see when it was last verified.
How many are aquatic, birds or exhibit animals?
37 species use an aquarium habitat, 12 use a flying habitat and 46 can be kept in a walk-in exhibit. See the aquarium list and the aviary list for names.
