About PZ2 Tools
PZ2 Tools is an independent, unofficial reference site for Planet Zoo 2. It exists to answer the questions the game's own UI makes you click through ten screens for: what animals ship at launch, which of them can share an enclosure, what hardware you need, and when it unlocks.
Who runs this site
A single maintainer, working from Frontier's own published data. There is no editorial board, no sponsored content and no paid placement: every page is generated from the sources below, and the generator itself is a script, not a person paraphrasing a forum post.
If you spot something wrong, email asrocky010@gmail.com — corrections are welcome and get fixed at the source data, not patched in the page.

Frontier's data is the authority on every page here. Where a field is genuinely absent from the source, we print a dash rather than guess — a visible gap is more useful to you than a confident wrong answer.
How the tables are made
- The animal database is generated straight from the official export — every row, every field, no manual entry.
- The compatibility chart is derived, not curated: a pair only appears if it shares a biome and an enclosure type, and every row carries the official quote it was judged from.
- Verdicts distinguish likely, unverified and not compatible instead of flattening everything into a yes.
- Nothing on this site is hand-copied from a wiki, a Reddit thread or another fan site.
Because every page is regenerated from the same source files, a new data drop updates all 130 species pages plus the chart in one pass — you never have to wonder which page is stale.
Reusing our data
The cleaned dataset behind the animal and compatibility tables is published for anyone to reuse under CC BY 4.0:

Portraits, habitat screenshots and distribution maps come from Frontier Developments' official Planet Zoo 2 material and remain the property of Frontier Developments plc and its licensors. They are used here to identify the animals the data describes.
