Editorial policy
A short, plain statement of who writes this site, where the numbers come from, what we do when the official data is silent, and how to get something fixed.
Who is responsible
PZ2 Tools is maintained by one person, independent of Frontier Developments. There is no editorial board, no sponsored content, no paid placement and no affiliate links. If you find an error, email asrocky010@gmail.com and it gets corrected at the source data rather than patched in the page.
Where the data comes from
Everything factual on this site is derived from two official sources: the Planet Zoo 2 Zoopedia payload behind the game's own animal pages, and the official Steam store listing. Pages are generated by scripts from those sources, so a number cannot drift from the page it came from. The full source list, with the date each was checked, is on the About & sources page.
How we handle uncertainty
Where the official data does not answer a question, we say so instead of filling the gap:
- Unverified pairsOn the compatibility chart and checker, a pair stays "Unverified" when the Social & Reproduction text never states whether a species is solitary or social. We publish the quote and leave the call to you.
- No invented figuresThe Zoopedia does not publish a minimum habitat area for Planet Zoo 2, so our calculator does not show one — even though a competitor tool displays an area figure for the previous game.
- Dated dataEvery page footer states the Zoopedia export date and the date the release and hardware data was checked, so you can see how old the answer is.
Corrections
Corrections are applied to the source data and the whole site is regenerated, so one fix updates every page that carried the mistake. Email asrocky010@gmail.com with the page URL and what is wrong; factual corrections are normally live within a few days.
Funding and advertising
Hosting is paid for out of pocket. When advertising is enabled it is served by a third-party ad network and is clearly separated from editorial content; adverts never influence a verdict, a ranking or a recommendation. See the privacy policy for what those third parties collect and how to opt out of personalised ads.
Reuse and quoting
The species dataset (CSV and JSON) is published under CC BY 4.0 with a citable DOI, so you may reuse it with attribution. Page text is ours: quote it with a link back. See the terms of use.
