Planet Zoo 2 is a current-generation-only release. It shipped on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on 13 October 2026, with PS5 and Xbox disc editions following on 20 October. These are Frontier's suggested retail prices for the game itself. Console storefronts set their own regional pricing, and PC prices vary by store, bundle and sale — use the table as a reference point rather than a live quote.
The one real difference: the console complexity meter
If you read one section on this page, read this one. The PS5 and Xbox builds include a complexity meter — a build budget that caps how much you can place — while the PC version has no such limit. It exists to keep performance stable on console, and it is the reason a heavily decorated PC zoo does not necessarily transfer to a console zoo unchanged.
In practice that makes the PC version the unrestricted one. If your plan is a dense, object-heavy build, PC is the platform the building tools were designed around. If you want a disc, a controller and a TV, the console version is the same game with a ceiling on it.
Game Pass, PS Plus and subscription releases
Neither Xbox Game Pass nor PlayStation Plus has been announced for Planet Zoo 2. At launch the confirmed ways to play are buying it on Steam or the Epic Games Store on PC, or the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store on console, plus retail discs from 20 October. Crossplay, cross-save and multiplayer
Planet Zoo 2 has no multiplayer or co-op at launch — that is Frontier's own answer, not our inference — so there is no crossplay to set up between PC and console. Carrying a zoo between platforms has not been announced either, and the complexity meter means the console and PC builds are not interchangeable by design.
